Marick Real Estate was appointed as development manager by Legal and General’s IPIF fund to manage the delivery of the 579,400 sq ft, speculative industrial development in Sunderland.
Hillthorn Business Park is one of the last allocated sites for industrial development in the Sunderland area. The site is well positioned adjacent to the Nissan car plant in Washington.
The initial phase extending to some 365,000 sq ft was developed in 9 units ranging in size from 20,000 sq ft to 85,000 sq ft. The scheme was supported by the City of Sunderland Council, and aimed at the industrial, storage and distribution markets as a complement to the nearby IAMP site being developed for Advance Manufacturing.
The Scheme was successful with all, but 2 units having been pre-let prior to practical completion to target occupiers such as AESC, Armah Switchgear, Yaskawa and Argos.
The scheme has been shortlisted for the 2024 IAS awards for best multi-let industrial development.
